چکیده

This paper presents two fuzzy portfolio selection models where the objective is to minimize the downside risk constrained so that a given expected return should be achieved. We assume that the rates of returns on securities are approximated as LR-fuzzy numbers of the same shape, and that the expected return and risk are evaluated by interval-valued means. We establish the relationship between those mean-interval definitions for a given fuzzy portfolio by using suitable ordering relations. Finally, we formulate the portfolio selection problem as a linear program when the returns on the assets are of trapezoidal form.

Fuzzy Random Linear Optimization under Possibilistic Downside Risk Measures: Minimization of Possibilistic Low Partial Moment

This paper considers new downside risk-aversion models for linear optimization (linear programming) with discrete fuzzy random variables. Through new downside risk measures for fuzzy stochastic optimization problems, possibilistic low partial moment (PLPM) models are constructed by incorporating possibility and necessity measures into classical low partial moment. To provide practical models, t...

A NEW MULTI-OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION APPROACH FOR SUSTAINABLE PROJECT PORTFOLIO SELECTION: A REALWORLD APPLICATION UNDER INTERVAL-VALUED FUZZY ENVIRONMENT

Organizations need to evaluate project proposals and select the ones that are the most effective in reaching the strategic goals by considering sustainability issue. In order to enhance the effectiveness and the efficiency of project oriented organizations, in this paper a new multi-objective decision making (MODM) approach of sustainable project portfolio selection is proposed which applies in...

Optimization in Finance: Portfolio selection models

Portfolio selection problem deals with how to form a satisfying portfolio, taking into account the uncertainty involved in the behavior of the financial markets. Markowitz (1952) established the relationship between the mean and variance of the investment in the framework of risk-return trade-off. Since then a variety of enlarged and improved models have been developed in several directions. So...

The Effect of Shortfall as a Risk Measure for Portfolios with Hedge Funds

Current research suggests that the large downside risk in hedge fund returns disqualifies the variance as an appropriate risk measure. For example, one can easily construct portfolios with nonlinear pay-offs that have both a high Sharpe ratio and a high downside risk. This paper examines the consequences of shortfall-based risk measures in the context of portfolio optimization. In contrast to p...

A Fuzzy Approach to Mean-CDaR Portfolio Optimization

This paper develops a bi-objective portfolio selection problem that maximizes returns and minimizes a risk measure called conditional Drawdown (CDD). The drawdown measures include the maximal Drawdown and Average Drawdown as its limiting case. The CDD family of risk functional is similar to conditional value at Risk (CVaR). In this paper, the fuzzy method has been used to solve the bi-objec...
